Upset by Sri Lanka in the opening match of the tournament, the Proteas had to win, and they did so with relative ease before a large, holiday crowd. New Zealand were all out for 214 in 47.5 overs and South Africa cruised to 217-5 in 41.1 overs. "Today was more of a level that we expect of each other and that we've got used to playing at. I think the bowlers had the first go at it again and they really set the example beautifully," Smith told SA Press Association. "Wayne and Dale up front bowled with the intensity we've been looking for, they created a lot of pressure."
