India's Somdev Devvarman and Treat Huey of the Philippines went down fighting 6-7(3), 6-7(10) to Mark Knowles of the Bahamas and Xavier Malisse of Belgium in the men's doubles final of the Farmer's Classic tennis.
Somdev and Huey, teammates at University of Virginia, lost in one hour and 56 minutes on Sunday.
The two got off to a strong start in their first ATP World Tour doubles final to go up 3-0 but squandered the advantage as Knowles and Malisse won the next five games.
The Bahamian-Belgian duo had two set points on Malisse's serve at 5-3 but failed to close out. They took the first set after winning the tie-break. The two teams traded breaks to send the second set to another tie-break, where Knowles and Malisse prevailed once again.
