They laughed about the Multan declaration incident in which stand-in skipper Dravid declared the innings with Tendulkar on 194 but the author has written at length about his disappointment of being denied a double century in the 'Away Wins' chapter of his book.
'Wasn't Sourav's decision'
"Sourav came up to me and said he was very sorry at what had happened and that it wasn't his decision to declare.
This was a little surprising because Sourav as the skipper, was part of the teatime discussion and was also present in the dressing room at the time of the declaration. I told him there was no point going over it any more," Tendulkar wrote.
Tendulkar revealed that Sanjay Manjrekar, who was on the Pakistan tour as a commentator, visited him in the hotel room where he was chatting with manager Prof Ratnakar Shetty.
"Sanjay said that it had been a brave decision to declare and that it was a good sign for Indian cricket. He carried on in that vein until I asked him if he really knew what he was talking about.
I explained to him that he was not aware of what had transpired in the dressing room and had arrived at his judgement without knowing the real facts of the matter. I made it clear that I did not appreciate his opinion, which I thought was a deliberate attempt to be different," Tendulkar wrote.
