Manchester City have allowed Carlos Tevez to delay his return to training with the striker to miss the Community Shield clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
The Argentine forward has stated his desire to leave Eastlands this summer, however a proposed ufffd40 million move to Brazilian side Corinthians fell through.
The 27-year-old will now miss Sunday's Wembley clash although will be expected to return to training with the club on Monday.
Tevez missed the club's pre-season tour of the USA after appearing in the Copa America, and a club spokesman confirmed that this was the reason for his extended absence.
"Carlos has now been given extended leave so he can return on Monday, which is 21 days after Argentina's exit from the Copa America," said the spokesman.
Tevez has reportedly attracted interest from Inter and Spanish giants Real Madrid, with Roberto Mancini seemingly already planning for his exit with the signing of fellow Argentine striker Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid.
