Benitez, who has had a spell with Inter since leaving the Merseyside club in the summer, believes the player could have been sold for more than the 50m fee Chelsea paid for him on transfer deadline day. 
"I think last year we were talking about 70 million pounds," the Spaniard told the BBC's 'Football Focus' programme. The 50-year-old, who spent six years at Anfield before leaving the club, suggested Torres' recent lack of form may have been an aggravating factor when it came to deciding on a price. He said:
"He was not playing at the same level the last time, but he is still a very good player. It is big money but could have been even better."
