Former India batting star Virender Sehwag played down the wrong line on Saturday. While wishing ex-India captain Ajit Wadekar on his birthday, he said on Twitter: "Happy Birthday Ajit Wadekar Sir, the first Indian captain to achieve an overseas victory & a rare Player, Captain, Coach,Chairman of Selectors."
Ajit Wadekar
He later wrote: "Ajit Wadekar Sir was the first Indian captain to achieve overseas wins while touring the West Indies and England in 1971. Happy Birthday Sir!"
Sorry Mr Sehwag, you have got it wrong here. It was not Wadekar but Nawab of Pataudi Jr who was the first Indian captain to win overseas when India beat New Zealand by a convincing 3-1 margin.
