He couldn't have asked for a better occasion than when his side faces Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium - the same venue where Jayawardene scored a brilliant century in the World Cup final albeit in a losing cause on April 2.
"We are up against a good team. It is a challenge for us to do well," the former Sri Lanka skipper told reporters on the eve of the match.
Kochi Tuskers skipper has scored 18 and two against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors India respectively.
Kochi Tuskers have had a forgettable start to the their debut season in the Indian Premier League (IPL), losing both their games thus far, but narrowly.
"We are making mistakes ufffd few mistakes, but not similar ones. We had close games. T20 is going to be like that.
"It is a challenge for us to finish off the game well," said Jayawardene.
