India's Rishabh Pant, 23, may have contributed a quickfire 91 with the bat but earlier in the day, his poor show behind the stumps was exposed again. Yesterday he missed out on stumping Jack Leach (14 not out) in the day’s seventh over when offie R Ashwin drew the Englishman down the track.

On Day 2, when Ollie Pope (34) got a leading edge off Ashwin’s full toss and the ball went behind Pant, the stumper seemed clueless and ran towards point searching for the catch.
Pant’s coach Tarak Sinha said his ward needed to be picked more consistently for him to improve. “Rishabh needs time. If he knows that he’s there in the team on a regular basis, he will do much better. It will be difficult for him to give his best if there is uncertainty. Also, let’s not forget that England batted for a really long time here,” Sinha told mid-day from New Delhi on Sunday.
