London: Christian Benteke scored the decisive goal as Liverpool ended the year on a high note with a 1-0 win over Sunderland in their Premier League clash.

The Belgian striker continued to prove to be Sunderland¿s nemesis as he has now scored six times against Sam Allardyce's team, the Daily Express reported.
Benteke had also scored against Leicester on Boxing Day to earn three crucial points for his side.
With the win, Liverpool are seventh in the league standings, five points behind the top four.
Meanwhile, Sunderland are reeling in 19th position, seven points adrift of safety.
