Ronaldo was sent off in Real’s 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao for his reaction to a push from Carlos Gurpegi and a confrontation with Ander Iturraspe in the 75th minute of the Primera Division match.
According to reports in Spain, Real will now take the issue to the Spanish Sports Disciplinary Committee in a bid to get the midfielder’s suspension reduced. If Ronaldo’s case is rejected again, he will miss today’s league clash against Villarreal and games against Getafe and Elche.
Referee banned
Meanwhile, the referee who sent off Ronaldo on Sunday has been suspended for a month. According to Radio MARCA, the Spanish League Referees’ Technical Committee (CTA) has decided to suspend referee Ayza Gamez from officiating for a month.
