The Algeria international, 27, joined Man City this summer from Leicester City but suffered an ankle injury in the first half of Saturday's 3-2 friendly win over Bayern Munich, putting his participation against Chelsea in doubt, reported Efe. "A scan today has revealed no significant damage, and he could be available for selection for this weekend's Community Shield against Chelsea," Man City confirmed in a statement on its official website.
"Mahrez has been given the all-clear to return to training later this week," the club added. The Community Shield is a contest between the champions of the previous English Premier League (EPL) season and the holders of the FA Cup, to be held August 5 at Wembley Stadium.
