Despite dismal season, United midfielder says defending champs will be ready for Arsenal today
Manchester: Just days after being held 2-2 by bottom-placed Fulham at Old Trafford, midfielder Michael Carrick has assured the club’s fans that the beleagured team can bounce back when they visit the Emirates Stadium tonight.

Carrick, who scored the second goal against Fulham, told his club’s official website: “We’ll be ready. We’ll pick ourselves up and get back to training in the morning. It’s one of those seasons — setback after setback — and we have just got to pick ourselves up.
“We have to believe that with performances, things are going to change. There’s no better place to do that than on Wednesday night at Arsenal, and we still believe that we can go there and get the result we want.”
While the defending champions currently languish in seventh spot, Gunners dropped down to second place over the weekend after a humiliating 1-5 loss to Liverpool.
United won 1-0 when the sides met at Old Trafford in November and Arsenal have occasionally fallen short against their supposed peers this season.
Although they beat Liverpool and Tottenham at home, they dropped points against Everton and Chelsea at the Emirates and were thrashed 3-6 away to Man City.
