London: Brazilian winger Neymar had reportedly planned a social media campaign against racism before his Barcelona teammate Dani Alves ate a banana thrown onto the pitch at the Spanish giants 3-2 away win at Villareal in the La Liga.

Neymar's campaign against racism reportedly grew as he posted a picture of himself on Instagram with a banana and the hashtag ''we are all monkeys'' just after Alves ate the fruit thrown onto the pitch during Barca's clash against Villareal.

According to the BBC, a Brazilian agency has said that the response had been planned to help Neymar counter racism in Spain even though it has been taken worldwide.

Neymar, who has been racially abused along with Alves on a number of occasions this season by football fan, had reportedly been on the receiving end of 'monkey' chants during Barca's recent clash against Espanyol, which prompted the winger to seek help from his father and advisers on the best course of action.

Neymar's campaign got launched when Alves, who did not know anything of the plan, took a bite from the banana thrown into the pitch against Villareal and the Brazilian winger posted a picture of himself and his child eating bananas on Instagram, the report added.
