Solo, a standout goalkeeper for the US women's national team and for the Seattle Reign of the National Women's Soccer League, was taken into custody on Saturday morning.
'Visible injuries'
She was set to remain behind bars until a Monday hearing in municipal court in Kirkland, a suburb of Seattle in Washington state.
Police said the incident took place at a family gathering at Solo's Kirkland home, where police were called to investigate an assault and noise disturbance and found Solo "intoxicated and upset."
Police saw "visible injuries" on her nephew and sister and described Solo as "the primary aggressor." They also said she had "instigated the assault."
Gold winner
Solo, 32, played on US gold medal Olympic women's football squads in 2008 and 2012 and appeared on the television show "Dancing With The Stars."
Solo married boyfriend Jerramy Stevens in 2012 after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting her only hours before, but he was never charged, with police citing a lack of evidence.
