Thane: Narsingh Pancham Yadav, who won a bronze in free style wrestling competition in ongoing Asian Games today, has worked in Thane district rural police force.

Yadav served as a probationary DYSP in the district police, a release said today.

Yadav, born in Mumbai, had a keen interest in wrestling from his young age and he took his professional training from the Sports Academy of India, New Delhi. Yadav's father Pancham Yadav has a dairy business, the release said.

"Yadav bagged gold in 2010 commonwealth games in Delhi. He was appointed as DYSP by the state government in recognition of his achievements as a sportsperson. He completed his training in 2013 from the Maharashtra Police Academy and joined the Thane district rural police as DYSP in July 2014," it said.

Narsingh, who has been selected in the absence of two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar in 74kg freestyle, prevailed over his stronger Japanese opponent in a hard-fought contest at Incheon.
