So in many ways, England's Peter Ebdon can be considered a perfect snooker player. But in a game of colours, Ebdon, on occasions, is known to confuse red with brown, a mistake a child wouldn't be caught making. Put it down to a family succession issue, where every alternate generation in the Ebdon family tree has one person afflicted with colour blindness, which in Peter's case, makes for the brown going in when the red should have or vice-versa.

"I have potted the wrong ball at various stages throughout my entire career. Obviously, on each and every occasion I thought I was potting the correct ball and very often it has cost me frames, and probably matches in the past," Ebdon, who last evening entered the second round of the ongoing Indian Open here, told mid-day.

"When you are concentrating, you have just seen the ball on and play the ball on and you think you've played a good shot but sometimes the first thing I hear is 'foul' and I think what have I done there? Then the referee says you have just played the brown instead of the red. It is really embarrassing when it does happen, but there is probably not a lot I can do about that," he said.

Well, he may not be able to help himself in this case but the soon-to-be 46-year-old has already started healing others, not with colour blindness though. "I have been taking lessons in reiki for two years now and I can tell you without a doubt that healing others is the best thing one can do. I feel nothing I have done in life so far can match up to that," said the man who is very proud of his snooker records too.
