James Dasaolu catapulted himself into 100 metres medal contention at next month's World Championships with a blistering 9.91 seconds run at the Sainsbury's British Championships in Birmingham ufffd but it was the evergreen Dwain Chambers who took the title.
Dasaolu became the second fastest Briton of all time in the semi-finals at the Alexander Stadium, going quicker than even Usain Bolt has managed this year, but opted to pull out of the final after experiencing cramp.
In his absence Chambers sealed his place at the World Championships in Moscow by winning in 10.04secs — a season’s best.
