Investigations into the 2010 Commonwealth Games scam may be hindered with news reports yesterday claiming that key data related to the scam was missing from the CWG office here yesterday. It was also claimed that the CWG office was broken into.

According to the reports, the data, which was stored in computers of the CWG office, have been deleted and that some of the key documents are missing.

Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate had questioned jailed former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi in connection with the money laundering case registered by it in conduct of the sporting event in October (3-14) last year. Another television channel meanwhile, also claimed to be in possession of a letter that proved that someone had indeed broken into former the CWG Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi's office and stole sensitive data related to the scam. Some important correspondence between officials and the sports ministry was said to have been hacked into.

However, it was later learnt that CWG CEO Jarnail Singh had written to the Delhi Police chief claiming that the back-up of data was available.

The letter also allegedly mentioned a threat to a vigilance officer.
