Dadar lad Shannon Murzello's mother, Charmaine, was bursting with pride at Azad Maidan yesterday. She witnessed her son's heroics in Don Bosco, Matunga's 1-0 victory over St Xavier's, Goregaon.

Skipper Shannon latched on to a wayward pass in the opponent's penalty area and directed it into the back of the net with his out-stretched right foot in the 41st minute to earn his team a well deserved victory.

Charmaine always had faith in Shannon's talent and hopes he gets the chance one day to pull on the Indian national colours, which is his dad's (Clifton) ultimate dream for him.

"He started kicking the ball on his first birthday itself, the age when a child can hardly walk. I hope he lives up to his dad's expectations and fulfills his dream of representing the country someday," she said.
