Romil Khutia hails from a family for whom sports was a clear no-no. His parents Upen and Bhavna Khutia have never played or keenly followed any sport. But seeing their son excel in football has certainly generated some interest.
Wining titles in all categories, right from U-8 to U-16 proves Romil is talented. And yesterday he starred for Don Bosco 'B' (Matunga) scoring the only goal of the match against St Pius (Mulund) in the final of the U-16 Nike-MSSA inter-school Div IV football tourney his sixth goal of the season.
Upen, who owns a readymade garment store said, "We are from the Jain community. None of us in our family have ever played any kind of sport. But it's a proud feeling to see my son play and win. The least we can do is support him."u00a0
Romil also represents his school basketball team and closely follows the English Premier League and the National Basketball Association on tv, which his parents claim they have to forcibly watch with him.
The lad admires India football captain Bhaichung Bhutia. "One day I hope I can lead India like Bhaichung," Romil said.
