Double delight for Rohan Vora in Maharashtra Open squash

Rohan Vora was a relieved man after a tough five-set win over Tushar Kothari (14-12, 12-10, 11-9, 11-7 and 11-2) saw him enter the U-17 quarter-finals of the 34th Bombay Gymkhana Maharashtra State Open Squash Championship.

Rohan Vora was a relieved man after a tough five-set win overu00a0Tushar Kothari (14-12, 12-10, 11-9, 11-7 and 11-2) saw him enter the U-17 quarter-finals of the 34th Bombay Gymkhana Maharashtra State Open Squash Championship.



More than yesterday's results, what mattered to the 16-year-old Pune lad was the fact that the marathon win meant that he had completely recovered from a serious knee injury that had kept him off the court for six months.

"I was eager to get back on court but was not sure if my knee had recovered fully. But now I know," said Vora, who reached the pre-quarter-finals of the U-19 category a day earlier.u00a0 However, he has an uphill task here facing top seed Mahesh Mangaonkar whom he has never beaten before. But, the healed knee has boosted his confidence nevertheless. "I will go all out against Mahesh," he said.
