Honda supply the engine in their partnership with McLaren, but former world champions Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button were left lagging at the back of the grid in 2015 as they finished second last in the constructors’ championship.
“McLaren-Honda had a tough 2015, but improved significantly during the season. I’m looking forward to this new chapter in 2016,” Hasegawa said in a statement yesterday.
