India needed to play out of their skin to stand any chance against the Netherlands in their second Pool B match of the World Hockey League Round 3 on Saturday.
But that was not to be as the hosts beat the visitors 2-0, thanks to first-half goals from Billy Bakker and Jeroen Hertzberger.
The result left India precariously placed after their draw against Ireland in the first game on Wednesday.
The Netherlands started the match in lightning fashion, taking the lead inside two minutes thanks to a sensational goal from Bakker that delighted the crowd .
