Don Bosco (Matunga) won three trophies in the just-concluded inaugural Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA)-Mumbai FC Masters League five-a-side football tournament at the Andheri Sports Complex on Sunday.

The month-long tournament that had over 1746 kids participating through 260 teams, comprising schools and academies, across four age groups — U-8, U-10, U-12 and U-14 — saw the Matunga school’s U-10 and U-12 teams dominate the proceedings.
In Sunday’s final, Don Bosco’s
U-10 ‘A’ team beat their ‘B’ team 1-0 via tie-breaker, while the U-12 team beat Kalina Youngsters Sports Foundation 5-1, thereby ensuring the Matunga school got their hands on three trophies.
Meanwhile, in the U-8 final, St Paul’s (Parel) beat Millat FC 2-0, in the U-14 boys’ final, Palkaya FC beat KNFC 5-2 and in the girls’ U-14 final, Christ Academy beat FCM Khiladi Connect 3-0.
The winning teams will receive a year’s football training from I-League outfit Mumbai FC’s professional coaching set-up.
Chief guests for the finale, MDFA chairman Aditya Thackeray, MDFA president Digambar Kandarkar, DY Patil University president Dr Vijay Patil and Mumbai FC players Taisuke Matsugae and Ashutosh Mehta gave away the prizes.
