Mumbai Local Sports: Sea View shoot down Air India

Sea View knocked out Air India, while Hockey Dadar got the better of Mumbai Customs in the quarter-finals of the 30th Bandra Gymkhana Open rink hockey tournament 2016 on Thursday at the tennis courts of the Bandra Gymkhana.

In the first quarter-final, Sea View took a 2-0 lead in the first five minutes through Lawrence Soares' brace.

In the second half, Sea View added two more goals to their tally through Gavin Vanderine and Shelton Carvalho (penalty stroke). For Air-India, former internationals Devinder Kumar scored two, while Darryl D'Souza and Girish Pimple bagged one each to make it 4-4 at full time.

In the tie-breaker, the score read 3-3. The game went into sudden death where Cornelius D'Costa failed to score for Air India, while Leon Soares found the net to clinch the win for Sea View.

In another last-eight tie, Mumbai Customs beat Hockey Dadar in sudden death after the teams were locked 2-2 at full time. For Mumbai Customs, Jayesh Jadhav and Hemant Gethe scored one goal each, while Amit Gowda bagged a brace for Hockey Dadar. In sudden death, Mumbai Customs won 6-5.
