Top seeds Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi crashed at the very first hurdle in the doubles event of the Thailand Open last night.

The duo, once known as the Indian Express, for their multiple Grand Slam-winning combination that later split up due to personal differences, had claimed that this tournament would be a perfect practice for the upcoming Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi. Lee-Hesh were on a high having helped India beat Brazil in the Davis Cup World Group play-off in Chennai recently. However, they were unable to carry that form into Bangkok, losing 6-7, 7-6, 10-4 to the unseeded pair of Daniel Brands of Germany and Ivan Dodig of Croatia.
