According to a source in the Pakistan Sports Board the order was issued by the PM while chairing a meeting in Islamabad a few days back after which he ordered the formation of a five-member inquiry committee to probe the team's disastrous showing in the World Hockey League Semifinals.
"The meeting was attended by secretary of the inter provincial coordination committee and the acting Director General of the PSB and other notable personalities and the Prime Minister was clearly very unhappy with the state of affairs in hockey," the source said.
He said the PM, who is also chief patron of the PHF, issued immediate instructions for the special audit to be carried out and made it clear that if any discrepancies or misuse of funds was found the matter should be handed over to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
"The Auditor-General of Pakistan has already got the summary of the Prime Minister's instructions and the special audit will begin this week," the source added.
He said the special audit will be held into the PHF accounts including earnings, special grants and spendings in the last seven to eight years when Asif Bajwa and Rana Mujahid remained secretary.
