Fasting from dawn to dusk is a tough job anyway. And it becomes tougher if there's physical activity involved. But 15-year-old Anjuman-I-Islam Allana (CST) striker Saleem Shaikh didn't let his Ramadan fast affect his performance on the football field one bit yesterday. In fact the striker did well to score a hat-trick in his team's 4-1 win over Sundatta (Grant Road) in the Mumbai Schools Sports Association U-16 Div IV tie at Azad Maidan yesterday.

He later admitted it's tough not to sip on water after sweating so much. "In the first half I don't feel the need to drink water, but at half-time it gets a bit tough. But I just sprinkled water on my face to try and reduce the exhaustion and got back to the field as quickly as possible," said Saleem.
