World No 3 archer Deepika Kumari clinched the silver medal at the World Cup Finals event in Paris yesterday.
Deepika, supported by Olympic Gold Quest, entered the final by virtue of beating two Mexican archers: London Olympics silver medalist Aida Roman in the quarter-final, followed by World No 11 Alejandra Valencia in the semi-final. She in fact came back from 0-4 down in the semi-finals before prevailing in the shoot off after the score was tied at 5-5.u00a0
In the finals, Deepika lost a closely-fought match 4-6 to World No 2 Yun Ok Hee of Korea. This is Deepika’s fourth straight appearance in the World Cup Finals and she qualified by virtue of the silver medal in the World Cup at Shanghai earlier this year. She also won silver medal in the 2011 and 2012 editions of the World Cup finals.u00a0
