Singh, Abrail put Rizvi Springfield in command

It was the fifth wicket partnership of 216 runs between skipper Sidak Singh and Sayyed Abrail Jilani that saw defending champions Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) end Day One on 374 for six against Don Bosco (Matunga) in the Giles Shield Elite Division semi-final at Cross Maidan yesterday.

Rizvi were 95 for four at one stage, but it was Abrail (159) and Sidak (135 not out) whose brilliant tons helped them stabilise the innings after electing to bat. In the other semi-final at Oval Maidan, left-arm-spinner Dhruva Vedak's six-wicket haul helped IES VN Sule Guruji bundle out Hansraj Morarji for 194 in 70 overs.
