Devvarman won 6-4, 6-2.
The Davis Cup star had failed to make it to the main draw of the season's opening Grand Slam in Melbourne two weeks ago but the youngster showed made no mistake in sending the seasoned Malisse packing last night.
Devvarman will now face Brazil's Thiago Alves for a place in the last eight.
