Skipper Arbaaz Shaikh scored both the goals. He opened the scoring for Francis D'Assisi in the 17th minute with a solo effort and extended the lead in the 49th minute, scoring off a free kick to make it 2-0 in their favour.
Arbaaz was delighted that his team beat Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) boys U-16 champions St Lawrence in the final.
"We couldn't have asked for a better win than this. We lost to St Lawrence (1-2) in the MSSA semi-final at Cooperage. The win was doubly sweet as we won it on our home ground. As we were unable to win the MSSA title, we were all very sad. Now, we can pass out school with our heads high," said the Class 10 student.
Meanwhile, St Lawrence coach Lachman Singh Bisht lauded St Francis' performance. "Today, our team didn't play the way they were expected to. We played well in the first half but the home team (Francis D'Assisi) played better than us. They deserve the win," said Bisht.
