Steppenwolf, by Dean's Kitten out of Queen Rania, caught the eye when making debut on the Derby card, finishing runner up to Dance The Dream in the B K Rattonsey Million. The Shazaan Shah-trained bay colt was seen to be covering ground in the final furlong of the race, and if he maintains that fitness, he will be a tough nut to crack, especially, as most horses show decent improvement in their second lifetime start.
There are three more in the fray who have also had the benefit of a run, Steppenwolf is unlikely to be challenged by any of them. He will, however, need to be wary of the two first timers--Grand Chieftain & Non Plus Ultra--especially the last-named who has been working well on the trial track.
