Lanky junior Sushrut Karmarkar scored a stunning straight games win over top seed Arjit Bose to make his maiden men's singles final of the JVPGC Suburban District badminton championships, hosted by Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana Club yesterday.
The collegian notched up an emphatic 21-17, 21-9 win and now takes on hard-hitting Amit Kshatriya, the seeded second, for the title round. Amit outplayed Murli Subramanium 21-11, 21-17 in the other semifinals.

Apart from making his debut in the men’s section, Sushrut bagged the boys under-19 singles title, beating his doubles partner Likhit Bangera 21-9, 21-15. The Sushrut-Likhit pair also are in the finals of boys under-19 doubles.
Kalpita Sawant justified her top billing in the girls under-15 and under-17 singles by capturing both the titles pretty convincingly.u00a0
