Tata Trusts U Dream Football yesterday announced a tie-up with Borussia Dortmund by which 48 players between the age of 10 and 14 will train with the Bundesliga club for six years at Bitburg, Germany.
As per the programme, apart from football training, the budding footballers will also get to study at international schools there.
U Dream Football, which is part of U Sports promoted by Ronnie Screwvala, initially sent 15 players to Germany in 2015, of which two dropped out due to injury. Last December, they chose a batch of 35 under-privileged players, making it a total of 48. "Unlike other tie-ups which are short-term, our association is a long-term. For the next six years, Dortmund's youth coaches will train the 48 players. They will not just train in football, but will be enrolled in Germany's best schools," said Screwvala.
