Dinesh Kumar continued his fine run at the World Boxing Championships in Milan yesterday with a crushing 19-7 victory over Costantin Bejenaru of Romania in the 81kg bout last night to become the first Indian to enter the quarter-finals here.
The 22-year-old won a close first round (3-2) followed by comfortable second (8-2) and third rounds (8-3) as he dominated his opponent for a major part of the fight. Kumar takes on Russian Artur Beterbiev in the quarter-final encounter tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Asian silver medallist Jai Bhagwan was not able to make it two wins out of two for India yesterday as he went down to Germany's Eugen Burhard 3-9 in the 60kg clash.
Today, India's Olympic bronze medal winning ace Vijender Singh takes on Canada's Steve Rolls in the 75kg category for a place in the last eight.
