While the Egyptians have been hogging all the headlines, England's Nick Matthew has been quietly going about his business.
The No 4 seed has yet to drop a game and yesterday was no different as he brushed aside the challenge of countryman Peter Barker 13-11,u00a0 11-6, 11-5 to book a place in the final of the $152,000 Punj Lloyd PSA Masters Squash at the Bombay Gymkhana Thunderdome.
Matthew will play the sensational 22-year-old Ramy El Ashour in the final today.
In an all-Egypt contest, Ramy the No 3 seed, overcame Amr Shabana, the No 2 seed,u00a0 11-9, 13-15, 11-8, 11-2. Ramy thus avenged his defeat to Shabana in the World Open final in Kuwait last month.
Matthew's not a flashy player as he keeps it simple and forces his opponent into errors. Barker only managed to keep pace in the first game and was thereafter not in the picture. Matthew moved around the court with the fleetness of a cheetah.
"It's more or less 50-50 between Ramy and me as far as head-to-head goes. The last time we played at the North American Open in Chicago, he beat me 2-3,'' said the Briton.
