India chief coach Craig Fulton appeared a relieved man after his team’s 5-0 win over Malaysia in the Asian Champions Trophy at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium here on Sunday.

It was a memorable outing for skipper Harmanpreet Singh, who achieved a personal milestone of scoring his 150th international goal with a 42nd-minute penalty corner conversion while local boy Karthi Selvam (15th min), Hardik Singh (32nd ), Gurjant Singh (53rd) and Jugraj Singh (54th) also contributed in India's win.

“Our forwards did better than yesterday [1-1 draw against Japan], but there is always room for improvement. They still missed quite a few chances, so that is something we will be looking into as the tournament progresses. We also picked up two yellow cards today, so that shouldn’t be happening,” Fulton said immediately after the thumping win over the Malaysians.

“The good thing about the forwardline though is that they have it in them [to score more goals]. They want to score more goals. It’s not that they are going out there not to score goals, it’s nice to see that we had a bit more balance today and the guys applied themselves a lot better,” added the South African.

Speaking of the upcoming clash against Korea 24 hours later, the India coach said the opponents are a formidable side. “The Koreans are defending champions so full respect to them. We will be fully focused on that one now. It will be a good game,” he said.
