Shuttler Ajay Jayaram on Monday notched up a stunning victory over higher-ranked Wing Ki Wong of Hong Kong in the men's singles competition to start India's campaign at the 2013 BWF World Championships on a positive note.

Ajay Jayaram provided a scintillating start to India’s World Championships campaign here Monday when the world number 24 stunned higher-ranked Wing Ki Wong of Hong Kong in the men’s singles first round.
Jayaram, who had reached the pre-quarterfinals of the event's last edition in 2011, battled fatigue and lapse in concentration to get the better of Wong 22-20, 17-21, 21-15u00a0in a 64-minute duel.u00a0He will take on Spain’s Pablo Abian in the second round.
