Indian jockey Trevor Patel, who recently completed riding 1,000 winners in record time in India before leaving for Australia, is scheduled to ride his first mount today at the Sunshine Coast racetrack in Queensland. The ace Indian rider will don trainer Robert Heathcote's family silks of black and pink checks astride Five Stud Poker, a five-year-old gelding who has so far won two races from eight starts.

It's a mile race, titled Caboolture Sports Club Benchmark 70 Handicap, and is slated as the first race (local time 12.40 pm) of an eight-race card. The Indian lad seems to have taken to Queensland tracks like fish to water, going by the fact that this week he won four of the five barrier trials (mock races). This achievement is expected to boost Trevor Patel's confidence level, and his Indian fans are keeping their prayers on and fingers crossed expecting the star jockey to start on a winning note.
