Most of us who work on computers sooner or later land up with eye strain and other eye- related disorders. Here is a list of things you can do to keep that invaluable pair safe and beautiful:
>>u00a0If you are exposed to excessive work on computers, it is mandatory for you to splash your eyes well with water every couple of hours. Getting up to do this also ensures that you also move about a bit.
>>u00a0Get yourself a pair of anti-glare glasses. They are best to protect your eyes from the constant glare of the screen.
>>u00a0Do Trataka. It cures several eye diseases and removes lethargy. Sit on a rug or your yoga mat in the squatting position. In yoga, this is called Sukhasana. Keep the waist, back, neck and the entire spinal column erect.
Be relaxed and sit in a calm manner, breathing normally. Make a sign on a piece of paper like a cross or a circle. Hang it on a wall in front of you at the level of your eyes at a distance of about 2 meters from you.
Now, fix your sight upon the sign or image without closing your eyes. Concentrate only on the sign or image. Continue to gaze, non-stop till your eyes start watering or feel the strain. Once this happens, close your eyes, and imagine that symbol to be in the eyebrow centre and concentrate upon that sign through the mind's eye.
>>Include leafy vegetables like spinach and also carrots in your diet. They are a rich source of Vitamin A that is necessary for keeping the eyes healthy. If you are a non-vegetarian, liver and eggs will work wonders for your eyes.
>>u00a0Vitamin E has been associated with the prevention of cataracts and the delaying of cataract growth. The best sources of Vitamin E are nuts, green leafy vegetables, and fortified products such as cereal.
>>u00a0You could also do the palming exercise for releasing stress from the eyes. Rub both palms together quickly for 10 seconds. This friction creates mild heat. Close the eyes and gently place the left palm over the left eye and right palm over the right eye. Do not apply pressure with the palms, but just let them gently rest. Breathe in and out slowly to release stress.
