Fitness forward: 10 trends we hope to see more of in 2011 Part 2

Kangoo jumps

Don't be surprised if you see a bunch of joggers with an added sprint to their step, or an aerobics class in full swing, with students bouncing high. A close look at their shoes and you'll realise that they're all strapped into their latest rebound sport shoes, popularly known as Kangoo jumps.

These shoes are fitted with a bouncy sole, which adds that extra spring to their step. Using the added momentum to your advantage, the Kangoo transform a routine jogging or aerobics class into a fun cardio workout. These shoes are safe to use anywhere and are great for the knees as they reduce impact by 80%.

Piloxing
The brainchild of Swedish dancer and celebrity trainer Viveca Jensen, Piloxing is the latest fad to take Hollywood by storm. Combining the core-training exercises of Pilates and the fast-paced moves of Boxing, Piloxing offers you the best of both worlds and makes for an interesting way to burn calories and get in shape. Weighted gloves up the ante by a notch, and when mixed with Viveca's signature dance moves, it's easy to see what makes Piloxing an instant hit with fitness enthusiasts.

"When at the end of a kickboxing class, you do crunches on the floor, that's a combination of cardio and core exercises," explains kickboxing and martial arts instructor Sanjay Patel. This makes for good variations, as the usual routine can get boring. Also, depending on individual stamina or energy levels, it's a good way to break a high intensity workout with floor exercises."
