“Try our ghee; you will see how sweet it is and then not be open to buy any other ghee,” suggests one of the store attendants proudly. In the past few years, however, the store has seen a drop in the sales of the ghee and butter owing to people becoming increasingly health conscious.
Matunga has changed a lot since 1956, and so has the store. The store now houses all kinds of farsan, idli, dosa, upma mixes, spices, papad, pickles, condiments and filter coffee powder that mainly caters to a dominant South Indian resident population.
