As we get a teaser of Mumbai's most awaited season, The Bohri Kitchen is all set to tease the taste buds with flavours to match it.

The lunch concept that seats about 15 people in a Bohri home in Colaba, will serve starters like the Lasan Bedu, green lasan kheema with bajra roti, a winter favourite amongst Bohri households featuring eggs, sunny side up, garnished with pepper. Smoked Mutton Kheema Samosas, patti samosas stuffed with smoked lamb meat, spring onions and coriander, is the other starter on the menu.

“I was bored with regular breakfast and was complaining about it to my mom. That’s when she mentioned that it would be winter soon so she’ll whip up a Lasan Bedu. Since it’s typically what we eat during Mumbai’s scam winter, I thought why not share it with our guests,” shares founder Munaf Kapadia.

The mains will include Mutton Chops in Red Masala. TBK’s iconic raan will be replaced by chops in this preparation. However, like the original version, this too is marinated over two days. The Mutton Undhiyu, meanwhile, is a Gujarat-inspired mix of winter vegetables like french beans, drumsticks and peas put together in a gravy with chunks of mutton and bajra balls.

Just when you are ready to slip into a food coma, the Bohri Chicken Pulao with Paaya Soup will be served. This non-greasy version of the biryani is essentially a white chicken pulao sans any garam masala; this will be served with a flavourful paaya soup.

You will need the Coconut Cooler and Jal Jeera Soda to wash the meal down, and to optimise stomach space. And after all this, if there’s room for a sweet ending, then tuck into some hand-churned Saancha Ice Cream, Gajar Halwa and Paan.
