Marine Lines resident Mishael Martina remembers the pani puri gulp-down competition she once had with a friend in college. The 22-year-old assistant director managed to have 49 pani puris in one go and yet, lost the bet. This evening, Martina will be fighting for the top prize in a one-of-its-kind pani puri competition in the city. "I'd like to cross the 50 mark this time," says Martina.

There are many 'pani puri lovers' like Martina, who are eagerly awaiting this contest. "The idea occurred to us on a weekend, when my friends and I were casually competing to see who could eat the maximum number of pani puris. The loser had to pay the bill," says Niraj Agarwal, founder, Wexpress Media Group, the organisers of the event.

The response they've received so far has exceeded their expectations. "We got more than thousand entries. There will be four rounds. The person who eats most number of pani puris in less time and in different variations, will be declared winner. The competition is open to all. We want to see the love and craze this city has for pani puris," he adds.
For the event, quality puris have been sourced from a trusted vendor. While the stuffing will include potatoes and boondi, for the water, there will be an option between spicy and sweet. Sounds yummy?
Next, the organisers are planning to hold this event to different cities and make it a nationwide competition.
