Keen to start your own venture but afraid of the risks? Head to The Barking Deer for an event titled, Fuckup Nights and listen to city-based entrepreneurs share their stories of failure that actually helped them learn the tricks of the trade. Presented by the collaborative workspace Bombay Connect, the first Mumbai chapter is part of the global Fuckup Nights that was born in Mexico in 2012, and has taken place in more than 30 countries across the world.

The Barking Deer

“It is a global movement where stories of failed businesses and projects are told, questioned and celebrated. We believe in nurturing the community of start-ups and entrepreneurs and this is an initiative to bring that community together to help share learnings, and figure that it’s okay to fail; what’s important is what you learn from it and what’s next. The event will be a platform to connect, share and learn,” elaborates Guncha Khare, co-director of Bombay Connect, who aims to host these nights at least once in two months.

The event will see four speakers share their journeys. Bharat Ahirwar quit the corporate rat race after eight years to begin his venture, Getmypeon (an errand-running service) while Rahul Chipgodkar (head of strategy and business at Track RF Link) is running his fourth startup, using experience from the past three failed attempts. The other speakers include Vivek Shah (investment banker) and hotelier Dharmesh Karmorkar who created and built brands like Yogurtbay and Silver Beach Café.

On: August 13, 6 pm onwards
At: The Barking Deer, Mathuradas Mills Compound, Lower Parel.
