There's a cake in my cup

Gourmet food boutique, Country of Origin, recently stepped into Bandra's sweet-obsessed boundaries. Here's what we tried and liked

There's a cake in my cup

Syringes filled with chocolate and transparent jars with gooey layers of cake for all to see is what attracted us to the new outlet of Country Of Origin (COO).

It looked very innocent and unassuming placed on the shelf. But the Espresso Fondant Mug would send you to chocolate heaven within 20 seconds of being heated. Great to gift someone, its chocolate centre with the right amount of coffee-flavour will do wonders if you’re in the mood for cake or coffee by the window sill. Rs 450. Pics/ Dhara Vora

A saccharine rush was what we got as COO stayed away from offering cupcakes and instead, offers a range of cookies, pastries, brownies in ingenious avatars.

While our favourites remain their cake in jars and the hot chocolate spoons, we’ve picked few more delish goodies to indulge in.

If you love peanut butter and want to try something other than the usual chocolate brownie, go for COO’s Peanut Butter Square. It would work well with a scoop of ice-cream to add some salt to the sweetness. Rs 80

A cookie doesn’t work if it doesn’t crumble. We heated this Hazlenut and Fudge cookie for a few seconds in the microwave and the fudge melted adding a soft texture to the crumbly cookie. Rs 180 for a pack of two.
