They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Vinita Contractor's cooking workshop, Healthy Brekky and Munchie, will teach you to cook breakfast and snack items that are nutritious, filling and good for your body.

"These items are vegan, eggless, free of refined sugar and flour, and made from organic ingredients with gluten-free options. I want to promote clean eating," says Contractor. The breakfast menu includes No Bake Fudgy Granola Bar, 5 Seed Cookies, Millet Oats Crackers, Lentil Dosa, Ragi Pancakes With Coconut And Caramel Bananas, Apple Date Buckwheat Porridge, Nutella, Tomato Ketchup and Date Tomato Fennel Chutney.

This is Contractor's fifth workshop; earlier classes dealt with dairy alternatives and gluten-free baking without refined products. Expect to watch educative videos on healthy eating, learn about nutritious substitutes to daily kitchen ingredients and where to source them.

Last year, after a visit to Sadhana Forest in Auroville, Pondicherry, Contractor decided to go vegan.

She started reading up, watching videos online, learning how to cook healthy food and began hosting workshops. "I started the online community Down to Hearth to create a healthy green and conscious living," says Contractor.
