Located in buzzing Dindoshi, Taste of Ganges, the new joint for Bengali food, turned out to be a misadventure into discovering this cuisine
Located near Dindoshi Bus Depot in Malad (E), Taste of Ganges seemed like an ideal place to dive into sumptuous Bengali cuisine. After scouring the menu, we had to contend with an attendant, who despite our resistance insisted on pushing for his choice of dishes.

We prevailed, eventually and ordered for a Mughlai Paratha (Rs 100), Chicken Pahadi Kebab (Rs 170) and Mutton Ajwain Kabab Roll (Rs 170), a rather odd choice for starter, but we wanted to try their rolls as well. For the mains we settled on Egg Thali (Rs 180), Ilish Bhapa (Rs 180), Bhetki Kalia (Rs 140) and steamed rice (Rs 80).
The Mughlai Paratha and Chicken Pahadi Kebab were the first to arrive. Both failed to impress our taste buds, and to make things worse, we were served the Mutton Ajwain Tikka Kebab (Rs 220), and not the roll as we had requested. Of the main course, the portions in the Egg Thali were huge, but the Egg Curry was anything but Bengali.
Then arrived the biggest disaster -- the Ilish Bhapa. All we could taste was mustard. The only respite amongst this distasteful soirée was the Bhetki Kalia, the only taste we would like to remember from the Taste of Ganges.u00a0
