Cordon Bleu-trained chef Rakhee Vaswani began her culinary journey at the young age of 11 and is now one of the most celebrated chefs in India.
In an exclusive Facebook live with mid-day at her Palate Culinary Studio in western Mumbai suburb of Santacruz, Rakhee shares a fantastic bond with Bollywood diva Malaika Arora.
Rakhee spoke about how Malaika is a regular visitor and has learnt various tricks from her. The chef also revealed that Malaika is a foodie who loves to cook for her son and others.
Talking to mid-day, she said, "Malaika is a sweetheart. Her son is a big foodie and she comes from a foodie family. She loves to learn everything and she just learnt about every cuisine, but her favourite food for her son is salmon, fish, healthy food. She loves to learn all that. She has done most of my classes. Recently we have introduced gluten-free class also. She also wants to come also. I said sure."

With respect to Malaika visiting the studio, Rakhee said, "Whenever she has the time, she comes and wants to learn something new whatever we have introduced and she actually makes it. In the class, there have been big times when she made it and students were wandering if she is actually going to cook. Even I asked her are you actually going to eat that. She eats everything, she works hard, she understands the value of good food. Teaching her is a brace. She is very enthusiastic, she loves to cook and do it herself and she is very particular about food".
Interestingly, the Bollywood star was also present at the launch of Rakhee’s first book, 'Picky Eaters', which received a lot of accolade from commoners, chefs and Bollywood stars.
Several Bollywood celebrities are her students -- from Arjun Kapoor to Radhika Mukherjee to Kriti Sanon. Rakhee is the woman behind their culinary skills.
Arjun attended cooking workshops for his role in 'Ki and Ka'. Remembering her days with Arjun, she said, “Arjun Kapoor was too cute. He wanted to bake, to learn everything”. Rakhee giggled when she remembered that Arjun did not want to get his hands dirty on paranthas. She mentioned, "He learnt to make tea, coffee, cutting and chopping onions. Very down to earth, really nice, put in a lot of effort for his role in Ki and Ka".
